Windows Server 2008 is a great Operating System however the problem with servers traditionally has been that they are not beautiful. Windows Vista Aero theme is one of the most beautiful themes for Operating System from the Windows Stable. We will see how we can enable Windows Vista Aero theme in Windows Server 2008. This is how we expect our system to look after we tweak Windows Server 2008.
In the Start Menu, choose the ‘run’ command and type ‘services.msc’ without the quotes.
In the Services Console, look for the service named ‘Themes’.
This Service is Disabled by default. Right Click on this service and open the Properties Dialogue box. On the Properties box, select this service to start Automatically from the drop down menu and Start the service.
This will start the Themes service on your Server. Now close the Services console and Right Click on empty space on the Desktop and choose Personalize from the menu.
You will open a Personalization page where you can choose to change the Themes available.
From the Themes Dialogue box, choose the Windows Vista Theme.
The theme changes instantly.
Now we need to change the Color and Appearance of Windows to Windows Vista Aero. For this, we need to open the Window Color and Appearances tab, on top of the Personalize page.
Choose ‘Vista Aero’ from the available Color Schemes in the Appearance dialogue box.
The Appearance of the System changes to Windows Vista Aero Theme.
This will make your Windows Server 2008 not only a reliable server but also a beautiful system to work on.
