10 Technologies That Will Bake Your Noodles

With the advancement of technology, the day is not far, when our mind would be like an AMD processor. All we would require is a chip fitted into our brain, to learn different languages in a couple of minutes or using your memory to check Snapchat and Instagram posts. This is the future of the brain-hacking technologies. DARPA is one of them, it will make you capable to learn faster. Every technology developing company has been working on hacking human brain to make it function better than ever.

However, we are not that close. This is an underlying truth that we have entered the next stage of human evolution. One day, we might be like Vision of Avengers, faster, smarter, stronger than ever.

Let’s take a look at companies and the technologies they are trying to develop:

  1. Neuralink – Elon Musk –

Neuralink is an American neurotechnology company founded by Elon Musk.  The agenda of this tech company is to amalgamate computer with the human brain. It aims to graft tiny electrodes in the brain, which may result into uploading and downloading thoughts in future. It would make communicating with billions of people very easy.

This will also help to reduce the stress level and maintain the connection between brain and body, which might break at the time of high-level stress. It seems to be way ahead in future but think if this technology would work, you could control your brain!

Awesome, isn’t it?

  1. DARPA’s RAM Sensor

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is an organization of the U.S. Department of Defense responsible for the growth and expansion of emerging technologies for use by the military.

DARPA is indulged in making brain sensor technology. According to the experts, Restoring Active Memory (RAM) program, DARPA’s motive is to accelerate memory function to fasten the learning process and also to build neuro-prosthetics to conduit gaps in an injured brain.

There have been quite a few traumatic brain injury issues in military personnel since 2000. To combat these issues, the scientist of DARPA is working on implantable devices that could target neural stimulation to help reinstate memory loss.

Cool, right!!!

  1. A Headset That Can Read Your Brainwaves

Tan Le is the co-founder and president of Emotiv Life science. Her astounding new computer interface could gauge the signals on your mind and react accordingly. She explained her vision of bridging the gap between giving a command and getting it followed. She expressed that she envisioned computer interface and human interaction should be like human to human interaction. In other words, she wanted the computer interface to not only understand the command spoken but also the feeling and gestures generated in our mind.

She explained that the best way to get it done is to interpret the signals which come directly from your brain. To accomplish it, a wireless headset is developed, it even enables you to control virtual objects, and with sheer thoughts. Amazing right!!!!

  1. SpikerBox

Greg Gage, a Neuroscientist is co-founder of Backyard Brains, and he trains person of any age to make DIY Neuroscience equipment. His vision is to make neuroscience equipment inexpensive and available to all. He made an equipment, the SpikerBox which could connect a person’s brain to another in a way that former’s brain can control the body movement of latter. The two people are connected by mere electrodes and a computer system, to detects electrical signals of movement, and created a human-to-human interface.

It is indeed creepy though exciting to control someone else’s mind!!!! IT IS FUN AS WELL.

  1. Kernel –

kernel

The advancement in technology has conquered nearly all the diseases and now the healthy lives should be the target. Kernel believes human brain is the powerful tool of all. Kernel is developing advanced neural interfaces to treat diseases, irradiate the mechanisms of intelligence, and extend reasoning. Kernel was founded by OS Fund’s Bryan Johnson.

The preliminary goal was to work on medical applications, but Johnson has widened the latitude for Kernel and is now focusing on increasing intelligence and strengthening the organ, resulting in smarter and healthier people and making way for interfacing directly with computing devices.

So, the goal is to make humans capable enough to outsmart machines – by making them a little bit like it.

Astounding, right??

  1. Neurable –

neurable

Neurable is an organization which is engaged in making brain controlled software platform for hardware or software makers to control AR and VR with your thoughts. Without voice commands or Oculus Touch controller, you will be able to convey your thoughts to ‘N’ number of devices. With this software, you would be able to use brainwaves to switch on or off lights or turn the A/C on or regulate the thermostat temperature.

Mind- Numbing, isn’t it???

  1. A prosthetic arm that “feels”

Amputated hand not only makes a person physically challenged but also emotionally distressed. As we use our arms in almost everything, we even talk with our hands. So, to overcome this disability in a better way, Physiatrist and Engineer Todd Kuiken has built a prosthetic arm that connects with the human nervous system resulting into improvement in motion, control and even feeling.

Kuiken used nerve-muscle grafts to obtain additional myoelectric control signal and bioelectromagnetic modeling to improve prosthetic design and human gait.

Great Discovery, a glimpse of future robotic arm, stupendous, isn’t it!!

  1. Muse Headband

This Headband doesn’t make you like a supercomputer but can reduce stress level. It is available for $300.00. Muse will teach your brain to reduce anxiety and stress levels in minutes using brain wave signals.

Muse uses the signal to show how active or calm your mind becomes over time and you can track it on your smartphone to see how much you have improved.

9. Deep Brain Stimulation-

Neuro Surgeon, Andres Lozano explained about a way to eliminate Depression, Deep Brain Stimulation. This procedure enables surgeons to place electrodes in almost any area of the brain, and turn them up or down like thermostat to correct the dysfunction.

The electrodes are placed in the brain by making small holes in the skull, thus localizing brain functions within a circuit and stimulation is controlled by a pacemaker device placed under the skin in a person’s upper chest. The electricity delivered can be adjusted with the help of a remote control.  The electrodes produce electrical impulses that affect the damaged cells to regulate the abnormal neurons. This simulation technique can correct dysfunctional diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Depression.

Definitely a relief, Phew!!

  1. Nootropics

Remember Limitless, a 2011 Hollywood movie in which Bradley Charles Cooper used to take a pill to stimulate his mind and use his brain at max. Nootropics is claimed to be just the same, which boosts your I.Q. It improves the cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation, in healthy individuals. Some of them are Modafinil, Racetams, Amphetamine etc.
