QUOTE OF THE DAY

CHINA SAYS IT WON’T CONDUCT ANYMORE CYBER ATTACKS ON CANADA
New industrial espionage accords get signed between Senior Chinese officials and Canadian intelligence advisor.
The headline sure looks misleading to some, but that is exactly what happened in the latest turn of events between China and Canada. According to the new agreement, China will put an immediate halt on all state-sponsored cyberattacks on Canadian private sector. This pact came as a result of recently held talks between Mr. Justin Trudeau and Chinese leader Mr. Li Kequiang, regarding possibilities of probe-free trading.
As per official communique “The two sides agreed that neither country’s government would conduct or knowingly support cyber-enabled theft of intellectual property, including trade secrets or other confidential business information, with the intent of providing competitive advantages to companies or commercial sectors.”
WHY ARE THERE CYBERATTACKS IN THE FIRST PLACE?
While above agreement is now in effect, China has been responsible for stealing tones of intellectual data from the west including tech-firms, industries and pharmaceuticals etc. And this has been happening for years. So their decision to put an end to all such blatant cyberattacks is being viewed by skeptics as a sign that Chinese espionage might become more stealthy.
WILL THIS COMPLETELY STOP CHINESE CYBER INFILTRATION?
This new deal between the two nations however, exclude any state-sponsored attacks on the government or military. Hence, this is strictly prohibited to the Canadian private sector. Nevertheless, according to several officials, this deal might be a stepping stone to curb Chinese espionage that has devastated a lot of industries and companies by leaking confidential data.
