CIA HAS BEEN HACKING WIFI ROUTERS SINCE 2007
Wikileaks exposes CIA firmware that has infected Wifi routers by major manufacturers for over 10 years.
HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN?
This may sound like a conspiracy to most, but ‘Wikileaks’ has exposed a CIA manufactured toolkit named ‘CherryBlossom’ that specifically targets and hacks Wifi routers a home, offices and public spaces. This was verified when Wikileaks recently dumped a bunch of confidential documents, allegedly belonging to the CIA. These documents detail some extremely covert ways used by CIA for network-spying operations. What’s even more horrific is the toolkit being totally impervious to firewalls and antivirus software and can easily exploit networks protected by strong passwords.
HOW MASSIVE IS THE INFECTION?
Analysts weren’t able to pinpoint the number of existing networks this malware could’ve infected since 2007. But according to published guidebook, CherryBlossom extends support for nearly 200 router models including some major brands such as, D-Link, Belkin, Linksys, Global Sun, Apple, Motorola and Planet Tech etc. You can also view this document for complete list of router manufacturers and vendors that this tool can infect.
Using CherryBlossom, CIA operatives can easily monitor a user’s internet traffic, redirect it through various proxies and view user activity. Despite of the fact that most routers mentioned in these documents are older models, we can expect newer models to have been infected by an advanced hacking tool.
WHAT IS CIA’S LEVEL OF INVOLVEMENT?
While nothing has been confirmed by any government officials, Wikileaks clearly mentions US non-profit organization Stanford Research Institute (SRI) to have developed this in cooperation with CIA. However, it would be interesting to know that SRI has only been mentioned in one document, which does not state their role in the project. Hence, we can safely presume that CIA had developed this toolkit for personal use. If this turns out to be true, this could be a major violation of personal law, that could really stir things up for the US government.

HOW DO WE KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE?
The news was confirmed by the CEO of Wistron, Apple’s manufacturing partner for iPhone 7. He mentioned that while there won’t be any major changes in the device’s functionality, new features such as Wireless Charging and making it waterproof are being considered. According to sources, they also revealed that the new phone will have a 5.5 inch screen, which we presume would be the 7S Plus model. While iPhone 7S model will be supplied with a 4.7 inch screen.
ANY SPECULATIONS ON PRICE?
Apple products aren’t certainly what once could describe as affordable. Hence, it can be expected to have a similar price as the original launch. Fans can expect a september release that coincides with Apple’s 10th anniversary and the supposed reveal of their latest iPhone 8. Since, iPhone 8 is rumored to have a premium price tag of $1000, the updated iPhone 7 models will certainly be priced low.
