SAMSUNG’S FlAGSHIP S8 DOES NOT FEATURE BIXBY IN ITS FULL GLORY
Despite ambitious plans to take on Siri, Bixby english will miss S8 launch.
SORRY TO ASK…BUT WHAT IS BIXBY?
For those who don’t know, just like Apple’s Siri, Samsung too was supposed to launch its very own personal digital assistant named Bixby. According to several claims by the South Korean tech giant, their assistant can deal with more than 15,000 tasks and incorporates augmented reality. Sadly, it is currently available only in Korean language, with its creators still unsure about when will it be ready for English speaking countries.
WHY DID IT GET DELAYED?
One of the major reasons for this hindrance has been explained as Samsung’s lack of big data. Since they do not have the proper tools to store and accumulate data required for machine learning. In an official announcement Samsung stated, “Developing Bixby in other languages is taking more time than we expected mainly because of the lack of the accumulation of big data.”
However, several experts have also suggested that it is Samsung’s late entry in the A.I assistant race that’s causing delays. While the creators are trying best to make Bixby English happen, it’s test results in US didn’t yield anything satisfactory. Users complained about incorrect response to various requests.
WHEN WILL WE GET OUR HANDS ON IT?
While english isn’t a very hard language, it can certainly be difficult to accumulate all possible questions since english speakers form a majority of world population. Samsung S8 does feature Bixby, but clearly lacks a lot of promised features that stops it from getting even close to Siri. Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t really announced a date for Bixby’s full-fledged launch, leaving users in a cliffhanger.
APPLE iPHONE 8 MIGHT COMPLETELY DITCH FINGERPRINT SCANNER
Speculations about iPhone 8’s on-screen fingerprint scanner once again in jeopardy as Apple might go for advanced biometrics.
WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE TROUBLE?
We’ve already seen the various design leaks for iPhone 8 that shows a completely bezel-less design and a virtual on-screen home button. However, an on-screen fingerprint scanner was one of the most talked about features that were rumored to make an appearance on the new phone. While Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has already beaten Apple in this race, the new iPhone will certainly have to do something extraordinary.
WHY IS FINGERPRINT SCANNER SO IMPORTANT?
Fingerprint scanner is an essential part of iPhone, ever since it first appeared on iPhone 5S models. It was integrated in the home button, where fingerprint was used to authenticate access to payments, activate various services and other apps that required biometric identification. And since the new iPhone design has removed the home button, Apple would certainly need to incorporate an on-screen scanner. But since this tech is already old news, Apple now aims to try something revolutionary.
IF NOT FINGERPRINT SCANNER WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?
According to several speculations, Apple might put its money on retinal scan rather than fingerprint. If these turn out to be true, the new iPhone will have no need for fingerprint ID as all functions can simply be authenticated by looking at the screen. There are a lot of rumors about other biometric solutions such as 3d facial recognition. This would make iris scan more accurate as compared to Samsung’s 2D sca, which can also be fooled with a photograph.
