QUOTE OF THE DAY
I recently learned something quite interesting about video games. Many young people have developed incredible hand, eye, and brain coordination in playing these games. The air force believes these kids will be our outstanding pilots should they fly our jets. ~ Ronald reagan (Former President, United States)
CASTLEVANIA ANIME BLOWS AWAY FANS WITH NOSTALGIA
Netflix brings the classic side-scrolling action platformer to life with original animated series.
WHAT IS THE STORY ABOUT?
For those who like anime but aren’t familiar with the Castlevania lore, Netflix has brought forth an animated series that will make you understand why people loved the game. The story is said to be an anime adaptation of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse on NES, that tells a highly engrossing tale of the struggle between Dracula and Trevor Belmont. Also joining Belmont are the two supporting characters from the NES game, Sypha and Alucard who will help defeat Count Dracula and put his reign of terror to an end.
WHAT IS SO COOL ABOUT THIS ANIME?
While some fans had complaints about this series, especially as it didn’t include any of the game soundtracks in the background score. Nevertheless, it still provides you will all the plot details from the original game that couldn’t be shown back in the days. Several viewers also noted the heavy violence and bloodshed portrayed in the series, often comparing it to the likes of Ninja Scroll and Berserk.
What makes it even more interesting is how each character is grounded with a solid backstory that keeps audiences involved. Religion is also shown as a major antagonistic force in the series that our heroes must battle along with Dracula’s evil forces. But it is definitely one of the best netflix series that have debuted this year and fans will certainly clamour for more once the 1st season comes to a conclusion.
NINTENDO SWITCH KERNEL SHOWS A SMALL YET INTERESTING DETAIL
After being dumped online by hackers, Nintendo Switch kernel shows it packs a lot more than what appears.
WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED?
Nintendo recently announced an open challenge for hackers related to their newest console Switch. They also offered a sum of $20,000 to anyone upon successfully hacking Switch. Although we’re still not sure how many hackers were attracted by this bounty, but hackers have dumped Switch’s OS kernel online. Despite this still doesn’t mean if the console had been compromised, but did point out future possibilities.
However, what’s even more interesting is the fact that a NES emulator is also buried within the code that probably indicates where Nintendo wants to take this.
WHAT DOES THIS EMULATOR’S PRESENCE MEAN?
Nintendo have already made announcements about providing classic titles in their paid online service, which is set for its launch next year. This shows how Switch might become a one-stop console that features the entire Nintendo library, especially NES titles. The emulator being hardcoded in the OS also shows that Nintendo clearly wants to stay ahead of hackers.
CAN NINTENDO SWITCH BE JAILBROKEN?
Despite their best efforts, most console manufacturers eventually get beaten by hackers, resulting in pirated content and emulation. Nintendo Switch is certainly far more robust than the previous handheld Nintendo DS that has been plagued with piracy. The kernel dump doesn’t mean that Switch has been exploited, but does indicate the possibilities unless Nintendo can step in and patch any loopholes.
