TRUMP HOTELS LEAK PAYMENT DATA AFTER BEING HIT BY CYBERATTACK
After leaking data from staggering number of properties, this isn’t the first data breach for the luxury hotel chains founded by President Donald Trump.
WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?
In the past three years, Trump Hotels, that was founded by U.S. President Donald Trump has been hit by a number of data breaches. While a similar incident compromised the hotel chain last year, the attack has now spread to more locations that now totals 14. Exposed details include account numbers, payment card details, security codes and cardholder’s names etc. Other details such phone numbers, email addresses and home addresses were also compromised, adding misery more misery to the affected people’s lives.
The malware used in the latest attack was explained as a Virtual Skimmer that specializes in stealing card data and share with its owners.
WHAT DO HOTEL AUTHORITIES HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS?
According to the official statement by Trump Hotel “This incident occurred on the systems of Sabre Hospitality Solutions, a service provider used by Trump Hotels. Sabre notified us on June 5, 2017 that an unauthorized party gained access to account credentials that permitted access to payment card data and certain reservation information for some of our hotel reservations processed through Sabre’s CRS.”
Trump Hotels also issued a warning statement to all guests related to their financial information that said “We recommend that affected individuals remain vigilant for incidents of fraud and identity theft by regularly reviewing account statements and monitoring free credit reports for any unauthorized activity.”
WHAT ABOUT SABRE HOSPITALITY SOLUTIONS?
This clearly brings Sabre Hospitality Solutions into the limelight, that was also involved in similar other data breaches in 11 Hard Rock Hotel properties. Although this has only created more trouble for customers whose data got compromised, it also creates a lot of questions for Sabre Hospitality Solutions’ reputation. It has been constantly attacked since 2016, resulting in data loss for more than 10,000 hotels across the United States.
In their defense, Sabre has issued a statement to reassure its clients that claim they now have “enhanced security around its access credentials and the monitoring of system activity to further detect and prevent unauthorized access.”

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT THIS?
A lot of people might not find this news very significant as Google Chromecast has proved that it is the better device with support from Google Home. Nevertheless, Amazon have also stepped up and have finally revealed their ace. In recent turn of events, Sony announced that their Bravia 4K Android TVs will work with Amazon Alexa devices. This gives Alexa total control over Android TV sets with voice-commands.

For now, the revealed functions include changing channels, control live tv, turn power on/off, control volume and playback etc. This sure might seem limited compared to Google Home’s ability to launch Netflix and Youtube.
