QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Confused and incomplete, we struggle to keep pace
Lost in our device – and bound for dark fates
Scientists who cut the edge, they fall short as well
Morality; sluggish at best, a sad tale to tell”
~ Watchtower (Technology Inaction)
APPLE WATCH 3 FACES TROUBLE DESPITE ALL ITS HYPE
Reviewers were peeved to find several problems with the device’s LTE capabilities and extremely poor battery.
SO THEY CANNOT REPLACE IPHONES, YET?
When Apple revealed Watch 3 with LTE capabilities, most fans thought it could become a major change in technology. With the advertisements saying “Leave your phone at home”, people finally got what they hoped ever since the first Apple Watch surfaced in Mid-2015. The reality however, is far disappointing as several reviewers complained about poor battery, software bugs and plenty of problems with its LTE feature.
According to several users, the LTE connection is often unreliable and in several cases costs extra depending on the carrier. Even if it does manage to get a signal, battery drains and it’s $399 price tag makes it a risky buy.
WHAT DOES APPLE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS?
As per an official statement by Apple, this issue has been explained as a bug in Watch 3’s Wi-fi network that interferes with LTE. According to the statement, “When Apple Watch Series 3 joins unauthenticated Wi-Fi networks without connectivity, it may at times prevent the watch from using cellular. We are investigating a fix for a future software release.”
Sure we might appreciate that Apple has shown humility and admitted these flaws in their latest generation Apple Watch. However, this still doesn’t justify the almost $400 price tag for a gadget that doesn’t do what it is supposed to.
HAS APPLE LOST SIGHT OF WHAT MADE IT FAMOUS?
The negative reviews for Apple Watch 3 before it even made to the stores have resulted in a 3% drop in Apple’s stocks. Moreover, not everything is cool with their iPhone launches as there have been news about delays in iPhone X due to manufacturing troubles. This has led to several critics and experts claiming that Apple do not have a grip on things as they used to. While they are doing their best to fix this situation, it still doesn’t help the fact that they would reveal something that was far from being finished, under peer pressure.
iOS 11 LAUNCHED, BUT IS FAR FROM BEING PERFECT OR FUTURISTIC
Despite all hype about Apple’s next-generation operating system, it has flaws that will hurt in a longer run.
WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM?
With their 10th Anniversary launches, Apple also introduced iOS 11 for their devices. This sure sounded like a great news for fans, but all excitement was lost when it was only adopted by 10% users within 24 hours of its launch. This is certainly a step down from their older iOS 10 that saw a higher adoption rate upon its introduction.
Sure iOS 11 brings several new changes such as a brand new control center, simpler UI, better iPad experience and upgraded camera app etc. Nevertheless, a lot of reviewers have said several features to be buggy, while several felt this isn’t very new or refreshing as compared to iOS 10.
WHAT’S SO BAD ABOUT iOS 11?
Despite its small flaws, iOS 11 isn’t really a horrible release. But still has some basic shortcomings that need to be promptly addressed and fixed by Apple engineers. While it improves on multitasking abilities with both iPhone and iPad, it suffers from some embarrassing glitches. The updated control center sure looks cool and significant, but several users complained about bluetooth and Wi-fi controls to be buggy and troublesome. This prevents them from switching off these services as toggle controls do not seem to function properly.
Adding to this reviewers have also noticed a problem when trying to use Microsoft services such as Outlook and Office 365. Several mails were returned with an error message saying “”Cannot Send Mail. The message was rejected by the server.” But surely the biggest shock comes from iOS 11 negligible support for 32-bit apps. Since they had already announced they would stop support for 32-bit apps, several users were annoyed to find their favorite apps not working after the upgrade completed.
