GOOGLE FINANCE REDESIGNED

THE STORY

Google announced that Google Finance’s Web version is going to be redesigned.

WHY THE REDESIGNING?

Google has announced that Google Finance’s Web version would get a fresh look.  A new stock-tracking interface will be there in Google Search and you will also get a “Finance” tab in search type shortly.

Looks like Google has been in the mood to redesign. First Google News, then Google Calendar and now the old Google Finance design is going to be replaced with new one. The old version has been there since 2011 when Google was in “red and gray” design period. Now to match the “Material Design” with content into a row of cards.

WHAT CHANGES COULD WE EXPECT?

There would be some serious changes in Google Finance. You will get historical graphs, stock prices and news and more. “My Stocks” feature will still be there and let you keep your eye on favorite stocks. Although, you will no longer be able to access your transaction history and current holdings.

Google has been not showing any interest in Google Finance since long. The Android app launched in 2010 and no major changes were made on to it and finally, it was removed by Google in 2015. In the web version, you need Adobe Flash Player to draw the stock charts and flash player is blocked in Chrome by default. So, every time when you visit finance website on Chrome, you will get a notification to enable Adobe Flash Player.

Now with the announcement of redesigning of Google Finance, it seems like Google has still some interest left in it.  The company stated “We hope to continue to improve this experience in the future” and a call for feedback at the “send feedback” link on the new Finance page.
