“Human history becomes more and more a race between education and catastrophe.” ~ H. G. Wells

Another one of the cold wars between Google and Amazon emerges. This time, it is about YouTube’s implementation on Echo Show.

It is about Google’s YouTube. Google wants a fair share of the hardware products to be available via Amazon . On the other hand, Amazon avoids selling other brand products as it doesn’t want a competition for its own hardware initiatives. This is the reason, products like Google’s Cast is not supported by Amazon Prime and you can’t get Apple TV on Amazon.

Amazon didn’t respond in the way expected by Google. As the result of it, Google is blocking YouTube on Echo Show. However, YouTube stays on Fire TV devices till 1st Jan.

Earlier, the disputes raised as Amazon decided to launch a hacked version of YouTube on Echo Show. Rumor has it, Amazon revealed some features on which Google depend on to track ads and earn money from YouTube videos. When the disputed was not resolved. Both the companies responded coldly. Google took away YouTube and Amazon stopped selling Nest’s products.

“We’ve been trying to reach agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other’s products and services,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement. “But Amazon doesn’t carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn’t make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of Nest’s latest products. Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and FireTV. We hope we can reach an agreement to resolve these issues soon.”

Amazon responded. “Echo Show and Fire TV now display a standard web view of and point customers directly to YouTube’s existing website. Google is setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website. We hope to resolve this with Google as soon as possible.”

The companies have been amidst these arguments and disagreements for a long time, it’s high time that they come to the common grounds and settle the dispute once and for all.

Instagram now lets you archive your favorite stories so that you can keep them forever.

Another feature of Snapchat is copied by Instagram. This time, Instagram gives it an additional flavor. Snapchat’s Memories is now Instagram’s Archives. The only difference between both of them is Instagram enables you to post old stories to your profile with the help of the new feature Highlights. Both the features are available for Android and iOS. Moreover, you could keep your old stories together in the archive. You can name the folder and also share the stories to your profile.

Highlights are said to be the biggest change to Instagram profile in recent years. The change was much needed after the Stories feature which crowded the Instagram profile and feed page.

Many users download their stories every now and then and many intend to do. However, they forget to do it and story disappears after its usual period making it impossible to get it back.

The product lead at Instagram, Robby Stein said,“In a lot of ways, people get to know you through Instagram and your profile,” “It’s such an important space, but it’s also one that hasn’t changed very much.”

Highlights will enrich and brighten up user’s profile with impromptu photos and videos which appear in stories. To create Highlights, you need to Tap into New on the left hand side of the profile. Now choose stories from the archive, then choose cover image for Highlight and name it. Once it is done, Highlights will appear just like Stories-style on the top of the profile. They will stay on your profile page until you delete them. You can add up to 100 photos and video in a highlight. Moreover, you can create as many highlights as you want.
