Is Your iPhone Connected to WiFi?

Though this may seem as an elementary reason, but data backup is by default set only over WiFi to save the costly cellular data. Therefore, firstly make sure that your iPhone is connected to a WiFi network.

Tap on Settings > WiFi. Now make sure that your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network. In case it is not connected then tap on Wi-Fi and select the available wireless network.

Check For iCloud Storage Space:

If you are running out of space on your iCloud then also your iPhone data will stop backing up. Therefore, check for the available storage over iCloud by following the steps below:

Tap on Setting > iCloud.

In the new screen that opens you can find used and available storage space on iCloud. If you want to get more details regarding the space used by the apps, then click on Manage Storage.

Now you can the find the details of the apps that use maximum space on iCloud. By default, Apple gives 5GB of free storage on iCloud. In case you need more space then you should purchase it. Tap on Change Storage Plan to know and purchase other available storage plans.

In case you do not wish to spend on purchasing additional storage, then free space on iCloud by deleting unnecessary data. Now, once the space on iCloud is increased start manual backup.

Go for Manual iCloud Backup:

If your iPhone is connected to WiFi and there is ample amount of space available on iCloud, and still you are face problem in backing up of data, then go for manual backup. To do so follow the steps below.

  1. Open Settings and tap on your Apple ID.

  3. Scroll down and tap on iCloud Backup.

  4. Now first tap on iCloud Backup option to turn it on, if not already turned on. Now tap on Back Up Now option to start the manual backup process of your data to iCloud.

Sign-Out And Resign-In to Your iCloud Account:

Many at times when your iCloud is not recognized because of any known-unknown reason then also this problem occurs. Therefore, to resolve this problem sign out of your iCloud account and re-sign by following the steps below:

  1. Open Settings and tap on your Apple ID.

  2. Now scroll down till the end of the screen and tap on Sign Out option to sign out from your iCloud account.

  3. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted and tap on Turn OFF.
  4. Now select the type of data for which you want to have a copy on your iPhone and tap on Sign Out.

Now sign in back to your account by tapping on Sign in to your iPhone

Once you are signed in, try to perform a manual backup by following steps suggested above.

Reset All Settings:

If all the methods listed above go in vain then march on to the final step to reset all settings to default. To do so follow the steps below:

  1. Open Settings and tap on General > Reset.

All your settings of iPhone will now be rolled back to their default. Now after the restart of your iPhone try to perform a manual backup of your iPhone data to iCloud.
