QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Even with all our and the inventions that make modern life so much easier than it once was, it takes just one big natural disaster to wipe all that away and remind us that, here on Earth, we’re still at the mercy of nature.” ~ Neil deGrasse,6Tyson
MICROSOFT FOCUSES ON WINDOWS S MODE
Microsoft will be now focusing on S mode rather than Windows 10 S.
WHAT IS S MODE?
Microsoft was working on Windows 10 S, which is said to be the new version of Windows that is supposed to compete with Chrome OS. Microsoft earlier announced Windows 10 S as a dedicated Windows version for the education market. Everything installed on your Windows 10 S can be only downloaded from Windows Store. However, according to the new reports, Microsoft is working on new “S Mode” for Windows 10 Home, Pro, and Enterprise.
Windows 10 Home in S Mode will just run similarly like Pro, besides it will not include features that most of the people don’t use, such as BitLocker and Remote Desktop.
S Mode for Windows 10, is apparently on which Microsoft is working. S Mode just locks down a version of Windows 10 so that it doesn’t run most Win32 apps. It will work exactly just as Windows S operating system was supposed to do.
WHAT WAS PEOPLE’S REACTION?
The reaction to it is quite stupefying, given the fact that 60% of the Windows 10 users haven’t switched to Windows 10 Pro, even if it was available for free. Now Windows users are surprisingly ok with the fact that they would be limited to Microsoft Store apps. This strategy will widen the reach and now more users could get devices with S Mode enabled. With all this, the company has also planned to let Windows 10 Home users turn off S Mode without any cost. However, Windows 10 Pro users who have S mode turned on on their devices will have to pay $49 to get the full version of Windows 10 Pro and there is no turning back.
This is certainly a risky move on Microsoft’s part as it is bound to create confusion among the customers. Everything will depend on whether devices shipped by OEMs have S Mode enabled, or not. As Home Version users will have a free pass, but Pro users would have to pay for the full version, which is quite irritating and feels like discrimination as well.
APPLE MUSIC SOON WILL BE THE BIGGEST STREAMING SERVICE IN THE US
Apple Music service is growing fast in the US and it might have more subscribers than Spotify by the end of this year.
WHAT MAKES US SAY THAT?
Apple’s streaming music service is growing pretty fast even more than Spotify. However, Spotify is still the biggest for now internationally. According to the various sources, Apple Music will overshadow Spotify and become the most used music streaming service in the US on the basis of paid subscribers.
If we compare the subscribing rate of a customer then, it is 5% a month for Apple Music and just 2% for Spotify. If the flow remains like this, then soon Apple will overtake Spotify on US accounts. As of now, Spotify has 70 million subscribers wherein Apple Music has 36 million subscribers globally.”
WHY DID IT HAPPEN?
Apple Music has a greater advantage over Spotify as it is inbuilt in worldwide popular iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Moreover, Apple Music Streaming Service has a huge library and it also offers premium service which lets users ingress 45 million songs for $9.99 per month. But Spotify gives free access to 30 million songs with 140 million active users across the globe. If they don’t want ads, they could pay $9.99 to get uninterrupted services.
