PREPAID PUBLIC TRANSPORT PASSES BY GOOGLE PAY IN LAS VEGAS

THE STORY

A new service is launched by Google which allows you to pay virtual travel passes with Google Pay.

WHAT IS THE NEW FEATURE CAPABLE OF?

Google combined Android Pay and Google Wallet sometime back to make it Google Pay. It was done to make it easy for the Android users. It has been rolled out for public use last month. So far, Google Pay is used for public transport in some cities such as Portland, Kiev, and London but the process involves making payments from a bank card which is integrated with your Google Pay account. However, the new feature will make Google Pay, a digital wallet which could be used by users to get prepaid tickets and passes.

Going forward from today, travelers in Las Vegas can purchase a ticket for Las Vegas Monorail through the transit company’s website. No matter if you are booking a pass for a couple of days or buying a one-way ticket, you can make the payment using Google Pay. Once the payment is done, the ticket is automatically saved in your Google Pay’s digital wallet. This could make traveling easy and smooth.

For now, the feature is launched in Las Vegas but Google promises that it will come to other cities as well.

WILL IT BE USEFUL?

This is just the start of what Google wants. The feature could be very helpful and convenient for later days. It will enable commuters to spot the location of the nearest station and also let them know all about their transaction made for it. It could prove to be very useful for the people who love to keep records of the expenses that they have made without noting everything down.

Last year in December 2017, Google and Portland public transport agency TriMet came up with a partnership to get a virtual transit card within the Google Pay wallet. Though it seems that it is still in the testing phase.

YOU GET TO RESHARE OR PROMOTE YOUR POSTS ON INSTAGRAM

THE STORY

Instagram has launched a new feature for Stories which allows you to re-share posts.

WHAT COULD IT DO?

Looks like Instagram is on fire. With all the speculations of upcoming features and release of a few of them, there is so much new on it. Instagram has copied some of the best Snapchat features. It looks like now it’s time to move on. It seems like the next target is Twitter.

With the new feature of Instagram, users can quote Instagram Stories just as the Twitter’s “quote tweet” feature. The feature will let you talk about another person’s post. Moreover, you can also embed a “see post” button to encourage people to check your posts. The latter will be especially beneficial for the businesses. Now, the people who use Instagram for business will get a wider platform to promote their brands

An Instagram representative stated, “We’re always testing ways to make it easier to share any moment with friends on Instagram”.

Until now, users used to take a screenshot of a post and share it with others through Stories. Although, you can always use “regram” to re-share posts unofficially. However, now with the release of official re-share option, things will be easier.

Now, people can use Stories to get more Likes and Comments to post which could help them to get recognition in Instagram’s feed ranking algorithm.

This step will conglomerate the three parts of the app: the transitory Stories, permanent feed, and private Direct messaging. Instagram has been constantly experimenting with Stories by introducing different features.

HOW WILL IT WORK?

To use the feature, all you need to do is pick a public permanent Instagram post and tap a button to embed it in your Story. You can tap to make changes in design to emphasize or deemphasize the original author’s post, move and resize it within your Story post and more with Instagram’s creative tools. When a person views a story, they can tap on the post embed to get a “see post” button which opens the permanent feed post.

Instagram users don’t want people to re-share their posts can turn off the option in their settings and only public posts can be re-shared.

The feature offers a powerful viral discover mechanism for creators with which they can ask fans to quickly reshare their post instead of taking a screenshot and uploading it.

WILL IT NOT INVITE MORE GOSSIP?

The feature could be more than useful for business personnel as it will provide them a wide platform for their ad platform. But it could also become a new way for people to compliment or bad mouth. This could also let people indulge in all sorts of gossip which could engage more users.
