Since its launch in 2011, Snapchat has established itself as one of the top social media platforms and never let anybody claim its throne. Moreover, Snapchat continuously comes up with new innovative ideas and features to maintain its position in the market. Custom face lenses, Deluxe Bitmoji customization, Map Explore and Giphy integration are some of the features that the company has rolled out in past to attract more users.
Recently, the company has launched several new updates which allows its users to make group video calls with up to sixteen people while group audio chatting can support thirty-two friends at once. However, this feature was originally launched as individual audio and video calling in 2016.
Another big feature allows its users to tag friends in their stories with “Mentions” feature. This Tuesday the company said in a blogpost, “Today, we’re excited to introduce Group Video Chat on Snapchat!”.
Well, if you want to tag your friend then you just need to type @ and spell out the username of your friend that you would like to tag, the same way you can do on Facebook and Twitter. In fact, people who are able to see the tagged photos, can add other people as a friend or watch any public stories they’ve posted. In case you are tagging any friend of yours then Snapchat will send a message in the same chat window Just like Instagram.
How To Get Started With A Video Group Chat?
To get on board with a video chat you can begin with a new group or use the existing one. There are two icons available video and phone icon. Tapping on video icon will start a live group video chat wherein you can make voice calls with the phone icon. Members who are a part of the group will get the notification when they’ve been invited to a call, just like one does on Instagram live stories. In voice chat, you’ll be notified when others have joined the chat.
