QUOTE OF THE DAY: “Technology has forever changed the world we live in. We’re online, in one way or another, all day long. Our phones and computers have become reflections of our personalities, our interests, and our identities. They hold much that is important to us.” –James Comey

YOU CAN NOW WATCH INSTAGRAM AND FACEBOOK VIDEOS RIGHT FROM WHATSAPP

THE STORY:

WhatsApp, one of the biggest messaging apps, used to let you share the YouTube and Instagram videos through their links. If the person wishes to watch, he clicks on the link and the respective app/website opens to show the video. But now, WhatsApp would be able to show you the videos within the app.

WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING TILL NOW?

Till now users were able to watch and share only YouTube videos on Whatsapp..But when sharing videos from Facebook or Instagram, the recipients would receive a link that required the FB or Insta app to view. This was a major inconvenience as both Facebook and Insta have videos that aren’t found on YouTube. And without Facebook or Instagram app on their smartphones it would be impossible to view these links. But not anymore as according to the latest WhatsApp updates, you can play Insta and FB videos directly through WhatsApp messenger.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE?

The picture in picture feature would let you watch Facebook and Instagram’s shared videos without the need of launching these apps. Not only would it save time but also diminish the load on your mobile processor. To enable this feature, you need to turn on the ‘Picture in Picture’ option from the settings. Though it was a long awaited feature, but WhatsApp is going to feature some more benefits to you that include ‘private replies in a group chat’. It would help you reply to a specific person even if you’re having a conversation in a group. All you have to is to tap the small on arrow on the top of the specific message and choose the option to ‘Reply Privately’.

WhatsApp has been working towards retouching its messaging platform that lead to add new features. Where picture in picture and reply privately are the highest in need, three more features are going to be in the new update. With new features on board, you don’t have to go through all the screens to unlock a person, just do a single click and send a message. Also, you would be able to invite your friends to your chat group through a link. Just share the link and your friend would be added as soon as he taps on it. Moreover, if you wish to report any consistency, you can shake the smartphone and it would launch the ‘Contact Us’ screen.

Now that WhatsApp has taken care of almost every concern and solved the scarcity of required features, it is expected that more users would be connected and it will be a consisting win for WhatsApp with the largest user base among the messaging apps. The features would soon be available for you to download in an update as they are currently being tested in its beta version by the developers.

Apple Continues To Work On Ultra-Flexible ‘Living Hinge’ For MacBooks

THE STORY:

Apple has been working on designing a new type of chassis for its devices. According to this new design, the whole laptop can be made with just one piece of rigid material using the ultra-flexibility at specific point. The company has been improving its work since 2013.

HOW IS NEW DESIGN ANY DIFFERENT?

Apple has been producing different machines but is known for its MacBook machines. Till now, all the laptops from apple have two major parts, where one part is used to place screen and the other is for keypad and touchpad. However, with this new design, Apple intends to use just one piece of material that would have both the parts affixed. Recently, the European Patent Office published company’s latest patent claim additions that focus on the usefulness of this flexible hinge design for MacBooks.

Patently Apple, the patent taking care unit of Apple, says that the new MacBook will be designed as a clamshell construction with a built-in flexible hinge design. Although it may sound alike the Microsoft Surface book that is also designed similar way and can be detached to make a tablet with its screen. However, the Patently Apple claims that the company’s abstraction is years ahead of Microsoft’s Surface Book hinge.

HOW DO THEY PLAN TO MAKE IT?

The design proposed seems to be familiar with that of Microsoft’s Surface Book that may or may not be detectable. In the new ‘living hinge’ of Apple, the whole MacBook would share the single piece of rigid material where the appropriate ‘ultra-flexibility’ would be applied to an adequate place, which is likely to be in the folding section. This way, there will not be two pieces of the material but two sections i.e. screen and keypad would be shared by just one sheet of flexible item.

Putting all the doubts away, Apple adds “An enclosure for a laptop may be created from a rigid material having a flexible portion defined around approximately a midpoint of the material. The flexible portion may allow the rigid material to be folded in half and thus acts as a laptop clamshell.

A top portion may support a display screen and a bottom portion may support a keyboard, trackpad, and the like, while an interior defined by sidewalls of the rigid material may house a variety of electronic components in accordance with conventional laptop computing devices.

In this manner, the enclosure (or a portion thereof) may be created from a single rigid material, while still providing flexibility and bending for the enclosure.”‘
