QUOTE OF THE DAY:

GOOGLE IS PLANNING TO LAUNCH A GAMING PLATFORM

THE STORY

Soon Xbox and PlayStation will have a rival. Google is about to launch gaming platform.

WHAT IS THE PLAN?

Google is already all over our internet, be it email, search engine, Streaming services and more. Now the tech company is set to conquer the gaming world. Though it is all hush until now, but three things that we know so far:

  1. It is a streaming platform.
  2. Some sort of Hardware
  3. Get Game Developers To Conglomerate With Google

This is not a one-year plan, Google has been working on the video games platform for over a decade. The tech giant has also made certain moves and attempts such as trying to get Twitch. However, Amazon made the move first. Rumor has it, Google also wanted to introduce Android-based console, although it didn’t succeed either.

Google got a brief success with Niantic’s Pokémon Go which short-lived as Niantic got separated from the tech giant. Well, this is all past. Recently, the gossip has gotten louder, with Google attending the gaming conference E3 2018 to meet gaming companies and to know if the game developers would take interest in the streaming platform (code name: Yeti). The tech giant’s aim is not only to allure game developers but to buy whole development studios.

WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN?

You must be thinking what could be the meaning of getting a streaming platform. With a streaming service, you don’t need a PC with high configuration and expensive graphics cards to play high-end games, an ordinary PC is enough to enjoy your favorite games. One of the biggest perks, no hardware barriers while playing games. So, all the high-end games will get a bigger audience and wider approach without a console or exorbitant graphics card.

This could be the best news for game freaks, however, this all seems too good to be true. With Google and its services & products, things will be smoother than ever.

This was about the streaming service, but if we talk about hardware, the rumors have not been that popular and clear. All we know is the hardware is somehow connected to the streaming service. Whether Google is planning to get a cheaper console or compete with Xbox or Play Station’s technical specifications.

WHAT COULD BE THE CHALLENGES?

One of the biggest challenges is internet bandwidth. Streaming a high-end video game means uploading and downloading a large amount of data, which seems to be difficult due to expensive internet connections or lack of access to it. Well, Google has an answer for that as well, Google Fiber, a high-end broadband service. Unfortunately, the service is limited to certain locations. But Google has other solutions to offer.

Another challenge is trust, Google has a habit of abandoning projects which can make developers dubious about the tech giant’s intentions. However, this time Google seems to be serious about the project, as the company hired Phil Harrison, the veteran video game executive, previously linked with Sony and Microsoft. Also remind Google has been hiring game developers and marketers, so it is preparing well and has something big and money is certainly a part.

THE STORY

Instagram Stories have become more popular than ever with 400 million users, now licensed Music will increase it further.

WHAT WILL BE THE IMPACT OF ADDING LICENSED MUSIC?

Adding Stories on their Instagram account has become people’s routine rather than expressing their emotions or what they are up to. Instagram stories have reached 400 million daily users and the addition of background music to Stories will make it go wildly popular.

The feature is going live today and now you can add background music to your Stories. You can choose songs you like from thousands of songs available with the app, with the promise of adding new songs every day.

This will make using Stories more fun. Adding a post on Stories with video along with adding your favorite music in the background.

HOW CAN WE USE IT & WHEN WILL IT AVAILABLE?

You can add songs to Stories just as you add a sticker to your Stories, all you need to do is, drag and drop New “Music” to your post, choose your preferred music for background to match up the post. You can also select the exact bit of music, which you want for the video or image. You can pick a song even before you record a video.  Doesn’t it remind you of some lip-sync apps?

You will get to choose the song by using “Music” option under the record button. Choose the song and record the video conventionally.

This feature is available in a few countries for now but it is presumed that it will soon release for other places as well. The music sticker feature will be available on both iOS and Android. However, choosing music before making a video is available for iOS as of now, but Android will soon catch up.
