YOUTUBE SET TO LAUNCH ‘COPYRIGHT MATCH’

THE STORY

As early as next week, YouTube is going to launch a new tool named ‘Copyright Match’.

What does this tool do?

Many YouTube channel owners claim that, they suffer substantial revenue losses due to copyright infringement. To solve this issue, YouTube is all set to launch a new tool aptly named, ‘Copyright Match’. With it, it shall scan all the new videos that are being uploaded and if they are similar or very similar to the content already on YouTube’s many channels.

How does it work?

Once a video has been uploaded, YouTube shall scan it with this new tool. If there is a match with previously uploaded video, it shall be displayed in the “matches” tab in the tool. Then the owner of the original content can decide the next course of action. It is speculated that they can ask for the duplicate video’s removal or deletion or simply ignore it. There is a 7-day window which shall be provided to the video uploader to either correct and change the similarities or face its removal.

The removal request shall only be entertained only if the original uploader that has 100k subscribers or more and has complied with YouTube’s copyright policies.

What are the things to keep in mind while using this tool?

“With great power comes great responsibility.”- Benjamin Parker (Uncle Ben, Spiderman Universe) keeping this great quote in mind, there are a few things one needs to be sure of while using this tool. Most importantly, YouTube defines copyright as “In many countries, when a person creates an original work that is fixed in a physical medium, they automatically own copyright to the work. As the copyright owner, they have the exclusive right to use the work. Most of the time, only the copyright owner can say whether someone else has permissions to use the work.” Keeping this in mind, all those who have put in their effort and time into creating an original piece of video, hold the copyright to it. So, it is only fair that one analyzes each match and confirm if they themselves own the rights of the content uploaded and if it infringes on one’s copyright.

MAC MINI TO GET AN UPGRADE AFTER 4 YEARS

The Story

The often-ignored Mac Mini is to get an upgrade in fall of 2018.

What is being upgraded?

There has been much information in regards of what features shall be upgraded in Apple’s Mac Mini, but, there is speculation that it just may be its processor. While it has been 4 years since any new update or upgrade has been undertaken on the Mac Mini, there is hope that apart from the processor, a new port and design updates are on the cards.

Why is this upgrade important?

The Mac Mini is a budget friendly small desktop computer. Preferred by a score of college students, it provides them with a mac experience that fits their budgets. It connects easily with a monitor and keyboard and is ready to use. While it still has a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, there is hope that the upcoming fall upgrade shall change it to advanced Intel Core i7. With this one change, the entire experience of using a mac mini is sure to change.

With Apple focusing on launching the new Mac Pro in 2019, we hope that the Mac Mini shall reap the benefits. After all, it is one of their best sellers.
