Newsletter: 5G iPhone To Be Released By 2020 And Microsoft Plans To Drop Edge Browser

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“The overall point is that new technology will not necessarily replace old technology, but it will date it. By definition. Eventually, it will replace it. But it’s like people who had black-and-white TVs when color came out. They eventually decided whether or not the new technology was worth the investment.” ~ Steve Jobs

APPLE PLANS TO RELEASE iPhone 5G BY AT LEAST 2020

THE STORY

Apple will wait as long as a year to bring new 5G network to its iPhone.

WHY HAS APPLE DECIDED TO SIT ON THE SIDE LINES?

Apple’s decision to sit on sidelines might be related to company’s dispute with Qualcomm Inc and compatibility issues between iPhone and 5G chips built by Intel. Besides, there’s a possibility that the company is trying to observe market as it did with 3G and 4G wireless technology. Moreover, Apple cannot afford to launch 5G iPhone with unstable performance.

WILL THIS DECISION MAKE APPLE LOSE ITS MARKET?

It doesn’t seem that way. Instead, it looks like a strategy Apple has been implementing over the years. The modern technology might have some drawbacks in early days, that Apple would want to notice and work on. Apple believes in stable performance rather than on cutting-edge performance, therefore, it wants to bring iPhones offering stable 5G performance.

Plus, this wait won’t hurt Apple or its customers.

WHAT OTHER HAVE TO SAY?

According to 5G advocates, this decision will pose bigger risk for Apple as the company will be left behind by its rivals like Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, and others.

“Apple has always been a laggard in cellular technology,” said Mark Hung, an analyst at Gartner Inc. “They weren’t impacted in the past, but 5G is going to be much easier to market. But if they wait beyond 2020, then I think they’ll be impacted.”
