Owing to COVID-19 when the entire world is social distancing, self-quarantining, Apple presents an on-board selection of free titles in various genres. In this regards the company sent out a push notification reading:
“Enjoy a good book, on us
Explore free books, read-along for kids, cozy mysteries, and audiobooks for the whole family.”
When the user clicks on the notification, they are redirected to the free book page. This page features a variety of novels and audiobooks to read and listen for free.

Indeed, this is a great step as it will help people spend time in a productive manner. We are in this together so whatever everyone can do they are doing.
All this might sound paradoxical but it is the reality.
Is this a new feature added to Apple Books?
No, Apple is just reminding its users about the free book and audiobook section within the app. This will help users stay productive during coronavirus self-quarantine. Further they can build a library of their own books.
In what all countries is this feature offered?
Currently, Apple is offering free books for the U.S. users. Hopefully users across the globe will also be able to access this huge selection of free books and audiobooks.
For how long can we access free books?
No one knows for how long you get access to free books therefore, act fast and read as many books as you can.
Is Apple Books the first platform to take such an initiative?
Apple Books is simply following Audible footstep. Last week Audible started offering free audiobooks for kids to help they continue to learn and dream. However, the free offer doesn’t cover every audiobook but the range offered for free is impressive.
There are different categories – age, genres, language in which free audiobooks are categorized. This will help navigate the free section.
Certainly, it is a great step taken by companies to meet the demand of people looking for entertainment sources over the internet. Due to the rise in working from home many app developers are offering free games, apps that will keep you entertained.
