Every time a company launches a new phone model, the creators try to set a benchmark and try to achieve the best. With new innovations, stupefying graphics, mind-blowing designed and camera capabilities, tons of smartphones come in the market to attract customers. However, only some of the them stand out and the rest go in the dark without making a noise. So, here is the list of the smartphones that totally collapsed in the market.
Undoubtedly, Microsoft Windows operating system dominates the PC market and never let anyone claim its throne. However, when Nokia launched its Nokia Lumia, (which was a based on the Windows operating system) it got flat in the market. The company first released the Windows phone back in 2011. Nokia Lumia was a result of the partnership between Microsoft and Nokia like Lumia smartphones run on Microsoft software.
Well, the major culprit behind the flop of Nokia Lumia was the tiles operating system that didn’t work out smoothly on a smartphone and consumers lost their interest by looking at the tiles. Secondly, the app could hold the buyers because Microsoft Store was offering nothing as compared to the rivals Google Play Store and Apple App Store. In fact, the basic and standard app such as Evernote and Snapchat weren’t offered by the company.

The BlackBerry KEYone was a touchscreen-based Android smartphone that has a physical QWERTY keyboard, which is manufactured by TCL Corporation under the BlackBerry Mobile. The company worked hard to be in the race and launched BlackBerry KEYone in 2017. In fact, the company abandoned its own operating system and moved Android to attract consumers. Unfortunately, BlackBerry KEYone also collapsed in the market in silence.
Certainly, the company did some good work by adding the extra security features but the hardware part of the phone didn’t do the justice.
Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra
Sony also introduced a lot of amazing smartphones in the market under the Xperia series. Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra was one of the failed phones that didn’t do much and failed to impress users. The reason for its failure was the lack of the essential and basic feature and capabilities that was offered by the below range smartphones. In fact, the price was too much in the return of a feature that was offered by Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra.
Well, Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra had great camera abilities but the company used an average processor and there was no fingerprint sensor offered to the user. The user didn’t find the phone worth paying the amount for the basic feature that comes in every ordinary smartphone.
Amazon Fire Phone
The e-commerce giant decided to try their hands in cellphone business by introducing their smartphone in the market. Amazon tried to enter the smartphone market with its first phone named as Fire Phone, which was boasted with 5 different cameras and a 3D display.
The smartphone has everything, apart from the thing that really matters, the Fire Phone wasn’t welcomed at Google Play Store. Without the access to daily vital applications, Amazon smartphone wasn’t in demand as it was expected.
HTC U Ultra
HTC released HTC U Ultra in February 2017. It is an Android 7.0 Nougat smartphone that didn’t attract many users and fell flat since its launch. The company decided to price it $329.99 but the smartphone was just like an ordinary phone that didn’t offer much in decided range.
In fact, when the company released that the product if becoming one of the flop mobile phones they decided to cut the price of it. However, reducing a notch from the decided amount wouldn’t change anything in its demand.
Samsung Galaxy Beam
Samsung is a reliable brand for smartphone and known for its strong body and mind-blowing feature at a reasonable rate. However, Samsung Galaxy Beam count is considered as one of the flop mobile phones that couldn’t sell them out. Moreover, the company used a version of Android that was already obsolete and the price wasn’t worth for the features that Beam offered. However, the company didn’t exterminate the Beam project and launched the second series of Beam back in 2014 but this time Samsung decided to target Chinese market instead of North America. Just like the Samsung Galaxy Beam, the second series of beam phone totally collapsed in the market without making a buzz.
LG always believed in the experiment and designed some of the out of the box products in last a few years. However, in early 2016, the company launched LG G5 which turn out to be a failed phone just after the launch. The LG G5 looked like a small piece of plastic instead of a phone that could be interested if it entered the market it out box ideas. It seems like the company focused on overpricing the device apart from working on the good ideas which resulted in a poor sale. In fact, LG’s mobile division lost around 400 million dollars in late 2016.
