HUAWEI SURPASSES APPLE AND TAKES SECOND PLACE IN THE GLOBAL MARKET
China’s leading smartphone brand Huawei shines in the global market as the second largest Smartphone seller for the first time.
HOW HUAWEI BECAME THE BIGGEST GAINER?
Riding on the success of P20, Mate 20 and Nova Series, the Chinese giant declared on Wednesday that its Smartphone shipments for the year exceeded 200 million units. It surpassed Apple to become second-largest smartphone seller with a global market share of 14.6% ahead of Apple at 13.2%.
It’s also vital to highlight that the company has also chased the second spot ahead of Apple in the Middle East and Africa with 21%.
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), Huawei is the sixth biggest spender in R&D globally, with USD 13.8 Billion spent last year.
WHO STOOD FIRST IN THE RACE?
Overtaking the American tech giant, Apple in both second & third quarter of 2018, with much favorable sales, both the companies are still behind Samsung.
According to IDC, Samsung managed to remain the leader in the global market with a share of 20.3%
Xiaomi maintained the fourth position globally with a share of 9.5%. However, it has already defeated Samsung for the first position in India.
FUTURE PLANS BY HUAWEI?
The company has promised to showcase its commitment to innovation & customer service with the release of its GPU Turbo technology that will allow users to upgrade their devices for an ultimate gaming experience at no cost, effortlessly.
Huawei is currently focusing on its new flagship, P30 which will be featuring ‘triple rear camera’ setup with 5X Lossless Zoom Support.
The company is also planning to introduce a new foldable smartphone in the first quarter of 2019.
“Looking to the future, Huawei’s consumer business will focus on the core concept of ‘consumer-centric’, and will dare to keep innovating, and make every effort to become a pioneer and leader in the next wave of the smartphone revolution,” said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, in a statement.
Latest WhatsApp Updates To Make Chatting Experience Better
WhatsApp brings new updates and features to attract users from across the segment.
WHAT ARE THE UPDATES?
The Facebook-owned messaging platform is becoming more user-friendly with each new update. These set of new features have been unveiled for the beta testing program and soon to be launched for end-users.
1. Group Video Calls
Users will be able to make group video calls directly from the group chats by tapping on the video call icon.
2. Revamped Emoji Layout
WhatsApp has transformed the Emoji Tray by changing the size and made all the 357 emojis look better.
3. WhatsApp Payment
Announced in February and still in its beta version. WhatsApp Payments feature is one of the biggest rollout users will witness. Though it has been rolled out to selected users for testing, soon end-users will be able to send and receive money through the app itself.
4. Suspicious Link Detection
Another feature that WhatsApp released is ‘WhatsApp Suspicious Link Detection’ feature that will help users in controlling the spread of fake news.
5. Multi-Share Update
Minor update though, but it will let users to share photos and messages with multiple users without getting the tag of the ‘Forwarded Message’.
6. PiP Mode
PiP Mode aka Picture-in-Picture mode is one the most interesting update WhatsApp has brought, the new mode will allow users to watch YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or any third-party app videos from WhatsApp itself.
HOW TO USE PIP MODE?
WhatsApp Web will be receiving the Picture-in-Picture mode first.
To use the feature, users have to click on the video preview that is shared inside the chats > it will open a separate window to enjoy the video and let you to continue chatting with your friends without any hindrance. Once the video gets completed, the window will automatically be closed.
The new window will be getting video controls such as Full-Screen, Play/Pause and much more.
