QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“I don’t think journalism changes. It’s about digging into stories and telling them well. The basic tenets of great reporting stay the same while things around it change. Technology has made reporting easier, but it has also caused job loss. Social media has increased discussion around topics, but it has its own challenges at times.” ~ Soledad O’Brien
NOW FIND WALDO ON GOOGLE MAPS
Google brings Where’s Waldo to Google Maps to welcome April Fools’ Day.
WHAT IS “WHERE IS WALDO”?
Waldo is a famous British children puzzle book character created by English illustrator Martin Handford. It is coming to Google Maps and it got released on April Fool’s Day which makes it hard to believe in the news but it is actually true. Starting this week, Where’s Waldo will be available on your Android, iOS devices along with your desktop. So, soon you will see Waldo popping up in his red and white stripes on your maps, waving you Hi.
HOW WILL IT WORK ON GOOGLE MAPS?
While you are on Map, you will see Waldo waving at you. You can tap or click on him and then you will get an option to play a game which is from the children puzzle books. Apart from Waldo, you will be able to see his friends Woof, Wenda, Odlaw, and Wizard Whitebeard. If you are able to play and find Waldo, you will be “transported to places all around the world” so that the game can start again.
Moreover, Google Assistant is also involved. You can ask “Where’s Waldo” on your home speaker, Android smartphone, Chromebook and other devices.
This is the second time when Google has integrated a popular brand into Google Maps for a certain period. Earlier in March, users got Nintendo’s Mario inside a kart, instead of turn-by-turn navigation arrow. This incorporation happened to celebrate Mario Day.
This time in the event of April Fools’ Day, Google is trying to have fun and the fun is extended to the whole week.
