QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Whereas knights of old wore armor of plate, the modern knights of the air wear the invisible but magic armor of confidence in technology.” ~ Mike Spick
WINDOWS 10 LEAVES OLD COMPUTERS IN UPDATE LIMBO
Pcs running on older processors may have compatibility problems with Windows 10 Creator’s Update.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
Microsoft promised a 10-year lifespan for their Windows 10 operating system. They also said that this OS will be compatible with new and older pcs that made it quite a hit among users.
Unfortunately, they seem to have forgotten their promise as several old systems are having compatibility issues with new Windows 10 updates. As soon as they finished installing the Fall Creator’s Update, several computers showed a message “Unfortunately this PC is unable to run Windows 10.”
WHAT DO THEY MEAN BY OLD PCs?
Despite Microsoft’s promises, computers and laptops older than 2014 will be incompatible with Windows 10 creators updates. This is due to a rudimentary problem between older hardware and the software included with new updates.
Several Clover Trail processors were deemed unfit for new updates. So if your system is running on Atom Z2760, Z2520, Z2560 or Z2580 you will be unable to install Windows 10 Fall Creator’s Update. Even if you do manage to run your system with new updates installed, several issues such as slowdowns, inconsistent text and color bars would appear.
WHAT DOES MICROSOFT SAY ABOUT THIS?
Windows lifecycle support page sheds more light on the support policy in a footnote that says, “A device needs to install the latest update to remain supported. Updates may include new features, fixes (security and/or non-security), or a combination of both. Not all features in an update will work on all devices. A device may not be able to receive updates if the device hardware is incompatible, lacking current drivers, or otherwise outside of the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (“OEM”) support period.”
This sure looks like Microsoft is mincing words, but reality portrays a picture that is entirely opposite to what the silicon valley tech mogul advertises.
APPLE WILL MAKE YOU WAIT MORE FOR IPHONE 8
Apple teases fans again by pushing iPhone 8 launch as far as November.
WHAT HAPPENED NOW?
Apple is clearly trying to make their 10th generation iPhone with OLED display extra special for fans and prospective buyers. And it only seems like they’re trying to boost the hype by pushing the release date as far as November. While some online news pages suggest a more optimistic October release, it’s still at least 2 months before we hear anything more reassuring.
WHAT COULD BE THE REASON FOR DELAY?
Being one of the most anticipated smartphone releases this year, Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone 8 is sure an elusive gadget. Leaks suggest several new technologies such as eye-scan and wireless charging to be present. However, there has also been news of various technological setbacks involving abovementioned features incorporation in the new gadget.
Another reason for delay could be Apple trying to avoid cannibalism to iPhone 7S and 7S Plus edition, before their next generation smartphone sees daylight. We understand that this might sound frustrating to several readers and we hate bringing the bad news, but we’ll have to wait this one out.
