SNAPCHAT WILL UNVEIL REDESIGNED APP ON DEC 4TH, 2017
Snapchat is all set to launch its biggest redesign on Monday, December 4.
WHY REDESIGN THE APP ANYWAY?
Despite the endless war between Instagram and Snapchat with both copying features from each other, Snapchat’s user base has been quite stagnant for a while. So, redesigning the interface is an effective way to allure users. CEO Evan Spiegel tipped off that Snapchat could espouse sort of Facebook like feed system. Spiegel told investors that the Snapchat app would be redesigned to make it more approachable and added: “there is a strong likelihood that the redesign of our application will be disruptive to our business in the short term.”
WHAT CHANGES COULD BE EXPECTED?
Now that the date of release is confirmed, let’s check out what types changes could be expected with the redesigned interface.
With the change, you will get all your friends based communication, including the Stories to the left of the camera, wherein earlier, Stories used to be at the right side. Now the space near the right-hand side of the camera is filled with crowdsourced videos from users around events like sports games, along with the content from Snapchat’s publishing partners like BuzzFeed and NBC. However, the stories from the celebrities would still appear on the right side of the camera.

According to the sources, the redesigned interface is introduced among the Snapchat employees as the “democratization of content.”
Spiegel’s vision for Snapchat is to create a “great personalized content service” and he also told that it will address some of the flaws present in feed-based social networks like Facebook or Twitter. He added that now Snapchat would give an opportunity to individuals like internet celebrities to earn money by their videos.
