- Login to onedrive.com.
- As soon as it opens, you will see a personal vault icon within your folders.
- Click on Personal Vault. You will then see a dialog box.
- Click Next to continue.
- Now, it will display your profile, and you then have to click on Verify to substantiate your identity.
This will take you to your Gmail account, and you can thereafter save all your important files and data in personal vault for enhanced security. Also, do not forget to set up OneDrive on your PC to access and edit files from folders on your computer. While you opt for set up, you will get a pop-up window like the image below. Sign in with your Email Id to finish the setup process.
Why You Need OneDrive’s Personal Vault?
Personal Vault by OneDrive lets you secure your confidential files and pictures. It runs on the trusted Microsoft cloud which comes with a lot of security measures. Other than keeping your files secure, personal vault always encrypt the files inside and stores them on a Bitlocker encrypted area of your hard drive.
Ensure that the files in the personal vault are not shared with anyone. Given the scenario a file was shared prior to moving to personal vault, sharing will be disabled once moved to the vault. One of the best features of OneDrive’s personal vault is that it auto-locks the vault after a period of inactivity. The time on web and mobile varies like for web, inactivity time period is 20 minutes and for mobile it is 3 minutes. As the set limit is crossed, you have to unlock your vault again to access your files.
