QUOTE OF THE DAY:
Technology is a compulsive and addictive way to live. Verbal communication cannot be lost because of a lack of skill. The ability to listen and learn is key to mastering the art of communication. If you don’t use your verbal skills and networking, it will disappear rapidly. Use technology wisely. ~ Rick Pitino
FINALLY, INSTAGRAM STORIES AND FEED ARE ON SAME PAGE
Looks like walls are getting thinner for Stories and posts.
HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?
Now with the upcoming update, Instagram gives option to share posts on Stories in the form of a sticker. The feature works for both own and public accounts that they follow. The aim of Instagram’s new feature is to help people promote their friends, brands and businesses that they like, making it possible to reach more audience.
When you share a post on your story, it will include the name of the user who posted it along with a link to go to original post.
The way to share a story is similar to sharing a post on Instagram Direct. Users can click paper airplane icon located at the top-right corner in the feed to do that. However, now you get a new option to create a story as well.
The posts are shared as stickers on User’s Story and they can resize, reposition or re arrange it accordingly before sending the Story.
However, there is a catch, you can only share posts from public accounts to Stories. Moreover, Instagram has given users an option to disable people from sharing their posts.
HOW TO DO IT & WHEN IS IT COMING TO USERS?
Whenever, you come across an awesome post and want to add it to your Story, you can do it very easily. Tap Share button and tap on “Create a story with this post.” Now the post will appear as a sticker and you can add background of your choice.
This awesome feature is already available on Android and it should come to iOS in the coming week.
SNAP SPECTACLES IS TESTING DIFFERENT EXPORT FORMAT
Snapchat is testing new and different export format, Non-Circular Panorama Exports.
WHAT IS NEW?
Snapchat realized that Spectacles should work more independently. The circular photo and video format for which Snapchat is known, is the coolest thing on Snapchat. You can point your phone anywhere while lingering on full screen on the device. Although, it minimizes into a small circle inside a huge white border while you are sharing the snap. This is quite disappointing.
People were hoping to get a solution for it. Fortunately, Snapchat is working on it. As it has been confirmed by Snapchat that they have started beta testing new and non-circular export format using beta version of its app.
When the feature goes live, you get to choose black border rather than white one. Moreover, you can choose a horizontal 16:9 rectangular format which will look good on YouTube and other sharing platforms.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Adding the horizontal rectangular export format could be a new tactic by Snapchat to make its Snap Spectacles V2 more compatible with other services, hence making it popular.
Well, breaking the bond with the proprietary circular format could be a challenge for them. Snapchat’s competitors have already embraced the idea, finally Snapchat has also decided to give in. The change is much needed and it could show the Snapchat is ready to explore.
It is quite exciting to know that now Snapchat content could be shared on other platforms without the giant white border. It might also allure attention of users and it could help to stabilize the diminishing rate of users.
It will also help Snap Spectacles V2 so that the product doesn’t end up licking dust in warehouse. Although the current product is quite attractive and handy but Snap doesn’t only want users to just buy it, they want them to use it throughout. Snap is working on it to not let that happen. This is one of the initiatives taken.
Let’s see how it turns out to be!
